CHARCOAL CANISTER [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]
Purpose, Function

The charcoal canister absorbs the evaporative gas generated inside the fuel tank to prevent release of the gas into the atmosphere.
Construction

The charcoal canister is located near the fuel tank.

Operation

The charcoal canister has activated charcoal to absorb evaporative gas.

Evaporative gas enters from the fuel tank side.

The intake manifold vacuum introduces evaporative gas to the purge solenoid valve.

The intake manifold vacuum sends air from the atmosphere side.
Operation
-
When the purge solenoid valve is open, evaporative gas, which is absorbed by the activated charcoal, is released by the intake manifold vacuum and the gas flows to the intake manifold.
