STARTER RELAY [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

Purpose, Function

• The starter relay supplies power to the starter by receiving the signal from the PCM.

Construction

• The starter relay is located on the relay and fuse block.

  

• A Normally open relay has been adopted for the starter relay.

• When electric current flows to the coil, the contact point is attracted by the generated electromagnetic power and switches on.

  

Operation

1. Electric current flows (1) to the starter relay coil based on the signals from the start stop unit.

2. When electric current flows to the coil, the contact point is attracted by the generated electromagnetic power and switches on (2).

3. When the contact point switches on, battery power is supplied (3) to the starter.
