POWER WINDOW SYSTEM

Outline

  • The door glass opens/closes electrically when the power window main switch or the power window subswitch is operated.

Function

Manual open/manual close function
  • When the power window main switch or subswitch is operated for manual operation, the door glass performs manual open/manual close operation.

Auto open/auto close function
  • When the power window main switch or subswitch is operated for auto operation, the door glass performs auto open/auto close operation.

IG OFF timer function
  • The door glass can be opened/closed using the power window main switch for approx. 40 s after the ignition is switched from ON (engine on or off) to ACC or OFF.

Auto reverse pinch protection function
  • If an obstruction by a foreign object is detected during the auto close operation, the operation changes from close to open.

Fully-closed position record function
  • The power window control module records the fully-closed position of the door glass so that the auto reverse pinch protection function does not operate when the door glass is fully closed.

Door interlock open/close function
  • The door glass is opened/closed in conjunction with the opening/closing of the driver’s/passenger’s door.

Convertible-top interlock open function
  • The door glass is opened in conjunction with the opening/closing of the convertible top.

System Wiring Diagram

Operation

Operation of driver’s side manual open/close function (Example: manual close operation)

1. When the power window main switch is operated for a manual close operation, the contact point of the manual close switch switches to on (1).

2. When the power window control module detects a manual close signal, current flows to the close relay (2) and the close relay turns on (3).

3. When the close relay turns on, the power window motor (LH) performs a close operation (4).

Operation of driver’s side auto open/close function (Example: driver’s auto open operation)

1. When the power window main switch is operated for an auto open operation, the contact point of the auto switch and the manual open switch switches to on (1).

2. When the power window control module detects an auto open signal, current flows to the open relay (2) and the open relay turns on (3).

3. When the open relays turn on, the power window motor (LH) performs auto open operation (4).

Operation of passenger’s side manual open/close function (Example: passenger’s side manual close operation)

1. When the power window subswitch is operated for a manual close operation, the contact point of the manual close switch switches to on (1).

2. When the close switch is on, the power window motor (RH) performs a close operation (2).

Operation of passenger’s side auto open/close function (Example: passenger’s side auto open operation)

1. When the power window subswitch is operated for an auto open operation, the contact points of auto switch and the manual open switch are switched to on (1).

2. When the power window control module detects an auto open signal, current flows to the open relay (2) and the open relay turns on (3).

3. When the open relays turn on, the power window motor (RH) performs auto open operation (4).

Operation of IG OFF timer function
  • When the ignition is switched from ON (engine off or on) to ACC or OFF, the IG OFF timer function of the power window control module is turned on, and the power window main switch can be operated for approx. 40 s after IG OFF is detected.

Operation of auto reverse pinch protection function
  • If the power window control module detects a change in the pulse signal from the power window motor for 0.3 s during an auto close operation, it reverses the power window motor operation and opens the door glass approx. 200 mm {7.87 in}.

Fully-closed position record function
  • The power window control module records the fully-closed position of the door glass when the switch is pulled and held for approx. 2 s after the driver’s side door glass is fully closed from the fully opened position with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).

NOTE:

  • Initial setting must be performed after performing any of the following procedures.

    • Negative battery cable is disconnected

    • Power window main switch connector is disconnected

    • Power window subswitch connector is disconnected

    • Power window system power supply fuse is removed

Door interlock open/close
  • When all of the following conditions are met, the door interlock open/close is operated.

    • Door glass is placed at position less than 6.5 mm {0.26 in} away from fully-closed position

    • Recording of door glass fully-closed position is completed

    • ON signal is received from door latch switch

  • When a door is open, the door latch switch sends a switch ON signal (1) to the power window control module.

  • When the power window control module receives the switch ON signal from the door latch switch, current flows to the open relay (2) and the open relay turns on (3).

  • When the open relay turns on, the power window motor performs open operation (4).

  • When the power window control module detects that the door glass has lowered to the position of 6.5 mm {0.26 in} from the fully-closed position, the open relay turns off (4).

NOTE:

  • When the power window control module receives a switch OFF signal from the door latch switch, it raises the door glass to the fully-closed position.

  • When the door interlock open/close is operated and the door glass is open, the door glass cannot be raised to a position higher than the 6.5 mm position to which it was lowered from the fully-closed position.

Convertible-top interlock open
  • When all of the following conditions are met, the convertible-top interlock open/close operates.

    • Door glass is in a position less than 140 mm {5.51 in} from fully-closed position

    • Recording of door glass fully-closed position is completed

    • Convertible-top open signal is received from top lock switch or convertible-top close signal is received from convertible-top switch

    Convertible-top close operation

  • When the convertible-top switch starts to close the convertible top, it sends a convertible-top close signal (1) to the power window control module.

  • When the power window control module receives the convertible-top close signal from the convertible-top switch, current flows to the open relay (2) and the open relay turns on (3).

  • When the open relay turns on, the power window motor performs open operation (4).

  • When the power window control module detects that the door glass has lowered to the position of 140 mm {5.51 in} from the fully-closed position, the open relay turns off (5).

    Convertible-top open operation

  • When the convertible top is released from the top lock, the top lock switch sends a convertible-top open signal (1) to the power window control module.

  • When the power window control module receives the convertible-top open signal from the top lock switch, current flows to the open relay (2) and the open relay turns on (3).

  • When the open relay turns on, the power window motor performs an open operation (4).

  • When the power window control module detects that the door glass has lowered to the position of 140 mm {5.51 in} from the fully-closed position, the open relay turns off (5).
