A/C COMPRESSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2. Discharge the refrigerant from the system. (See REFRIGERANT RECOVERY.) (See REFRIGERANT CHARGING.)

3. Remove the coolant reserve tank. (See COOLANT RESERVE TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

4. Set the resonance duct and air intake hoses No.1 and 2 aside as a single unit. (With resonance chamber No.2) (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

5. Remove the air cleaner, air hose and resonance chamber No.1 as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

6. Remove the battery and battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

7. While pressing the clip tabs in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, press the clip in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the clip tabs from the bracket.

8. Remove the clip.

9. While pressing the clip tabs in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, press the clip in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the clip tabs from the bracket.

10. Remove the clips.

11. Remove the drive belt. (See DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

12. Remove the drive belt auto tensioner. (See DRIVE BELT AUTO TENSIONER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

13. Remove the generator terminal B. (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

14. Disconnect the generator connector. (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

15. Remove the generator. (See GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

16. Remove the bolts.

CAUTION:

  • If moisture or foreign matter enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign matter out of the cycle.

17. Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe (HI) A.

18. Disconnect the connector.

19. Remove the bolt. (AT)

20. Remove the bolts.

21. Remove the bracket.

23. Remove the A/C compressor. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.

24. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See A/C Compressor Installation Note.)

25. Perform the refrigerant system performance test. (See REFRIGERANT SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST.)

A/C Compressor Installation Note

CAUTION:

  • Due to the high moisture-absorption characteristics of the compressor oil, it may absorb moisture if left over a long period of time thereby negatively affecting A/C operation. Drain the compressor oil and refill within 10 min of each other.

1. Rotate the new A/C compressor shaft 6 to 8 revolutions while pouring compressor oil into a clean measuring container.

NOTE:

  • Use this compressor oil to refill the new compressor. Do not allow compressor oil to become contaminated.

2. Rotate the old A/C compressor shaft 6 to 8 revolutions while adding compressor oil to a separate, clean measuring container.

3. Compare the compressor oil amounts.

NOTE:

  • The amount of the compressor oil drained from the new A/C compressor should be more than the old one.

4. Add the same amount compressor oil drained from the old A/C compressor back into the new A/C compressor.

    Compressor oil type

  • DH-PR

Compressor oil sealed volume (approx. quantity)

  • 120???140 ml {120???140 cc, 4.06???4.73 US fl oz}
