DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)]

NOTE:

  • If the self-test is implemented, the seat weight sensor calibration is performed. Perform the DTC inspection in accordance with the following conditions:

    • Do not place objects on the front seat (passenger side)

    • Do not touch the front seat (passenger side)

    • Fix the slide position of the front seat (passenger side) to the maximum rearward position.

    • Fix the recliner position of the front seat (passenger side) to the maximum forward position.

    • Set cabin vehicle temperature range between the -10 to 40 °C {14 to 104 °F}

    • Other than the above conditions, a “Japan only” command is also displayed, however, do not select the command because it is for use in Japan only.

CMDTC Self Test

1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the M-MDS.

a. Select “Self Test”.

b. Select “All CMDTCs”.

3. Verify the DTC according to the directions on the screen.

4. After completion of repairs, clear all DTCs stored in the SAS control module. (See CLEARING DTC [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)].)

ODDTC Self Test

1. Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.

2. After the vehicle is identified, select the following items from the initialization screen of the M-MDS.

a. Select “Self Test”.

b. Select “Modules”.

c. Select “RCM”.

3. Verify the DTC according to the directions on the screen.

4. After completion of repairs, clear all DTCs stored in the SAS control module. (See CLEARING DTC [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)].)

NOTE:

  • The SAS control module stores the following two types of information when a DTC is detected and displays snap shot data in the M-MDS.

    • Vehicle information detected by SAS control module

    • Vehicle information detected by instrument cluster and received by SAS control module via CAN signal

  • The data for all DTCs currently detected is stored.

  • The SAS control module constantly receives the power supply voltage value of the instrument cluster sent via CAN signal from the instrument cluster.

  • If a DTC is detected, the SAS control module records the power supply voltage of the instrument cluster when the DTC was detected, and it is displayed in the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS).

  • The instrument cluster records the elapsed time since the ignition was switched ON (engine off or on).

  • If a DTC is detected, the SAS control module records the elapsed time since the ignition was switched ON (engine off or on) when the DTC was detected, and it is displayed in the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS).

  • The SAS control module constantly receives the selector lever position sent via CAN signal from the instrument cluster.

  • If a DTC is detected, the SAS control module records the selector lever position when the DTC was detected, and it is displayed in the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS).

Accumulated total traveled distance from completion of vehicle until SAS control module detects DTC (Odometer value in instrument cluster)

The total traveled distance from which the SAS control module detects DTCs to the present can be calculated by performing the following procedure.

  • Verify the odometer value in the instrument cluster.

  • Verify the snapshot data item TOTAL_DIST.

  • Subtract 2 from 1.

NOTE:

  • When the ROOM fuse is removed, and the ignition is switched off, the time is not included in the elapsed time.

The elapsed time from which the SAS control module detects DTCs to the present can be calculated by performing the following procedure.

  • Verify the instrument cluster PID item TOTAL_TIME.

  • Verify the snapshot data item TOTAL_TIME.

  • Subtract 2 from 1.

  • The SAS control module constantly receives the vehicle speed sent via CAN signal from the instrument cluster.

  • If a DTC is detected, the SAS control module records the vehicle speed when the DTC was detected, and it is displayed in the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS).
