2016 – MX-5 – Body and Accessories

DOOR QUARTER GLASS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Removal

1. Perform the door glass preparation. (See DOOR GLASS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

3. Remove the following parts:

a. Door trim (See DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

b. Door module panel (See DOOR MODULE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

c. Door glass (See DOOR GLASS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

d. Door speaker (See DOOR SPEAKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4. Remove the service hole cover.

5. Remove the nut (1).

6. Remove the nut (2).

7. Remove the bolt.

8. Remove the door quarter glass and the glass guide as a single unit.

9. Mark the position of the door quarter glass lower end on the glass guide and position the door glass.

10. Remove the bolts.

11. Remove the door quarter glass from the glass guide.

12. Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Glass Guide Installation Note.)

Installation

1. Move the door quarter glass in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and press it into the glass guide.

2. Align the door quarter glass lower end with the marking shown in the figure.

3. Install the bolts.

4. Insert the door quarter glass and the glass guide as a single unit into the door panel. (See Glass Guide Installation Note.)

5. Install the bolt.

6. Install the nut (2).

7. Install the nut (1).

8. Install the service hole cover.

9. Install the following parts:

a. Door speaker (See DOOR SPEAKER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

b. Door glass (See DOOR GLASS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

c. Door module panel (See DOOR MODULE PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

d. Door trim (See DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

10. Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

Glass Guide Installation Note

1. If the wiring harness is routed incorrectly, the wiring harness may contact the door glass when opening/closing the door glass, causing damage to the wiring harness. When routing the wiring harness, route it through the back side of the glass guide.
