SEAT WARMER UNIT INSPECTION
WARNING:
-
Handling a seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling the seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) Driver’s Side
Seat back
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Disconnect the seat warmer unit connector.
3. Verify that the continuity between the seat warmer unit terminals is as indicated in the table.

If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat. (See SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Connect the seat warmer unit connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
6. Switch the ignition to ACC or ON (engine off or on).
7. Turn the seat warmer switch off and leave it for 30 min or more to let the temperature around the thermistor reach normal temperature.
8. Measure the resistance between seat warmer control unit connector terminals F and H, and record it together with the temperature around the thermistor.
NOTE:
-
Measure the temperature around the thermistor using a dry-bulb thermometer.
9. Operate the seat warmer switch to warm the seat heater unit with an indicator light turned on.
10. Measure the resistance between seat warmer control unit connector terminals F and H, and record it together with the temperature around the thermistor.
11. Operate the seat warmer switch to warm the seat heater unit with three indicator lights turned on.
12. Measure the resistance between seat warmer control unit connector terminals F and H, and record it together with the temperature around the thermistor.
13. Verify that the resistance varies as the temperature increases.

If the resistance does not change, replace the seat back trim. (See SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
Seat cushion
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Disconnect the seat warmer unit connector.
3. Verify that the continuity between the seat warmer unit terminals is as indicated in the table.

If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat cushion trim. (See SEAT CUSHION TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)
Passenger’s Side
Seat back
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Disconnect the seat warmer unit connector.
3. Verify that the continuity between the seat warmer unit terminals is as indicated in the table.

If not as indicated in the table, replace the seat. (See SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Connect the seat warmer unit connector.
5. Connect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
