TRUNK LID ADJUSTMENT
1. Measure the clearance and height difference between the trunk lid and the vehicle body.
-
Standard clearance
-
a: 2.4—4.4 mm {0.10—0.17 in}
-
b: –1.0—1.0 mm {–0.039—0.039 in}
-
If the measured value is not within the standard clearance, adjust the clearance using the following procedure.
-
Loosen the trunk lid installation bolts, move the trunk lid, and adjust the installation position. (See TRUNK LID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
Tighten the trunk lid installation bolts. (See TRUNK LID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
Verify that the clearances and differences in height of the trunk lid and the vehicle body are within the standard clearance.
2. Measure the clearance and height difference between the trunk lid and the rear fender panel.
-
Standard clearance
-
a: 2.3—4.3 mm {0.10—0.16 in}
-
b: –1.0—1.0 mm {–0.039—0.039 in}
-
If the measured value is not within the standard clearance, adjust the clearance using the following procedure.
-
Loosen the trunk lid installation bolts, move the trunk lid, and adjust the installation position. (See TRUNK LID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
Tighten the trunk lid installation bolts. (See TRUNK LID REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

-
Tighten the trunk lid latch and release actuator installation bolts. (See TRUNK LID LATCH AND RELEASE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
Verify that the clearances and differences in height of the trunk lid and the rear fender panel are within the standard clearance.
-
Verify that the trunk lid opens/closes smoothly.
3. Measure the clearance between the trunk lid and the rear bumper.
-
Standard clearance
-
a: 6.5—9.5 mm {0.26—0.37 in}
-
If the measured value is not within the standard clearance, adjust the clearance using the following procedure.
-
Loosen the trunk lid latch and release actuator installation bolts and adjust the trunk lid latch and release actuator position. (See TRUNK LID LATCH AND RELEASE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
Tighten the trunk lid latch and release actuator installation bolts. (See TRUNK LID LATCH AND RELEASE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
Verify that the clearance between the trunk lid and the rear bumper is within the specification.
4. Spray or pour water on the trunk lid and surrounding area using a hose or a high pressure car wash machine, and verify that there is no water leakage.
