Purpose
• The power steering malfunction indicator light/indication warns the driver that there is a malfunction with the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system.
Function
• The instrument cluster turns on the electric power steering warning light/electric power steering indication based on the system malfunction indication request signal sent from the EPS control module (CM) via CAN communication. For details on the illumination conditions, refer to [EPS CM] item. (See
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) CONTROL MODULE [(US)].)
-
Note
-
• If the electric power steering warning light/electric power steering indication turns on, the steering assist power may weaken.
• If the EPS system and CAN lines are normal, it illuminates when the ignition is switched ON (engine off), and turns off after the engine is started. If there is a system malfunction, the power steering malfunction indicator light illuminates.
• A warning message in the center display is displayed with the power steering malfunction indicator light turned on or flashed. For the message content and verification method, refer to the [CENTER DISPLAY] in the workshop manual.
Construction
• The power steering malfunction indicator light is built into the instrument cluster.
• The electric power steering warning indication is displayed on the multi-information display.
