2019 Mazda3 (Japan built) with VINS lower than JM1BP******109963 (produced before December 15, 2018)
DESCRIPTION
On some vehicles. the center display may turn black and/or DTC U0264:00 may be stored in memory when the rear view monitoring system is on after replacing the rear mount camera. This symptom occurs due to a communication error between the new rear mount camera and a specific old CMU software version. When replacing the rear mount camera with a new one, follow the Repair Procedure below to prevent this concern from occurring.
NOTE: For vehicles with a rear view monitor system with predicted vehicle path assist lines, this TSB is not applicable.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify concern.
2. Check the CMU software version. Is the software version 7000C0A-NA01_10014 or later?
- YES: There is NO need to update the CMU software before replacing the rear mount camera with a modified one according to the instructions on MGSS (REAR MOUNT CAMERA REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Verify repair.
