Caution

• If the rear shock absorbers are removed/installed at the same time, the torsion beam axle will move downward until it contacts the exhaust system (catalytic converter (TWC) and cause damage). When removing/installing the rear shock absorbers, do one side at a time being careful not to let the torsion beam axle contact the exhaust system.
1.Remove the wheel and tire. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2.Remove the protector.

3.Support the torsion beam axle using a jack.

• If the torsion beam axle falls off while it is removed/installed, it may cause serious injury or death, or vehicle damage. Always use a jack when removing/installing the torsion beam axle and verify that it is securely supported.
4.Remove in the order indicated in the table.
5.Install in the reverse order of removal.
