Transfer Oil Seal (Companion Flange)

Note

• When replacing the transfer oil seal installed to the companion flange, perform the procedure referring to the applicable TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE workshop manual because a transfer overhaul is necessary.

Transfer Oil Seal (LH)

1.Remove the transfer. (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [EV6AX-EL].)

2.Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the lip area of the transfer oil seal (LH) as shown in the figure and remove the oil seal (LH).

3.Install a new transfer oil seal (LH) using the SST and a hammer.

4.Apply the lip of the transfer oil seal (LH) with transfer oil.

5.Install the transfer. (See TRANSFER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [EV6AX-EL].)

Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.1

1.Drain the transfer oil. (See TRANSFER OIL REPLACEMENT [EV6AX-EL].)

2.Remove the front drive shaft (RH). (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)].)

3.Insert a flathead screwdriver into the notch of the transfer and remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1.

4.Install the new transfer oil seal (RH) No.1 projection to within the range shown in the figure.

5.Install a new transfer oil seal (RH) No.1 using the SST and a hammer.

6.Apply the lip of the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1 with transfer oil.

7.Install the front drive shaft (RH). (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)].)

8.Add the transfer oil. (See TRANSFER OIL REPLACEMENT [EV6AX-EL].)

Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.2

1.Drain the transfer oil. (See TRANSFER OIL REPLACEMENT [EV6AX-EL].)

2.Remove the front drive shaft (RH). (See FRONT DRIVE SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)].)

3.Remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.1. (See Transfer Oil Seal (RH) No.1.)

4.Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the lip area of the oil seal (RH) No.2 as shown in the figure and remove the transfer oil seal (RH) No.2.
