FRONT OUTER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Driver’s Side
1.Fully close the front door glass.
2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(US)].)
3.Remove the following parts:
- (1)Front door speaker grille (See SPEAKER GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (2)Inner garnish (See INNER GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (3)Power window main switch (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (4)Front door trim (See FRONT DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)].)
- (5)Front inner handle (See INNER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (6)Front door latch and lock actuator (See FRONT DOOR LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4.Disconnect the keyless antenna connector. (With advanced keyless entry system)

5.While pressing the front outer handle bracket pin in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, pull the front outer handle in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the front outer handle bracket pin from the front outer handle.

6.Remove the front outer handle in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (See Front outer handle installation note.)

7.Remove the service hole cover.
|
8.Loosen the screw.
|
9.While moving the lever in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, press the retainer in the direction of arrow (2) using a tape-wrapped screwdriver, and then secure the lever.

10.Remove the cap. (See Cap installation note.)
|
11.While pressing the tabs of the clip in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, press it in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the connector tabs from the front outer handle bracket. (with advanced keyless entry system)

12.Loosen the screw securing the front outer handle bracket.

Note
-
• The screw cannot be removed because the front outer handle bracket has a stopper which prevents the screw from falling.
13.Pull the front outer handle bracket in the direction of arrow shown in the figure and detach the front outer handle bracket hooks from the body.

14.Remove the front outer handle bracket and front door key cylinder as a single unit.
15.Remove the front door key cylinder. (See FRONT DOOR KEY CYLINDER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
16.Remove the handle sheet from the body.

17.Install in the reverse order of removal.
Cap installation note
1.Tighten the screw while holding the cap, and return the retainer to its original position.

Front outer handle installation note
-
• While pressing the front outer handle bracket towards the body, move the lever in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, move the front outer handle in the direction of arrow (2), and then install the front outer handle.
Passenger’s Side
1.Fully close the front door glass.
2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [(US)].)
3.Remove the following parts:
- (1)Front door speaker grille (See SPEAKER GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (2)Inner garnish (See INNER GARNISH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (3)Power window subswitch (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
- (4)Front door trim (See FRONT DOOR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [(US)].)
- (5)Front inner handle (See INNER HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4.Disconnect the connector.

Caution
-
• When removing the service hole cover, insert the remover tool so as not to damage the seal rubber.
5.Detach the service hole cover tabs from the body using a remover tool.
|
6.Lift the service hole cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and detach the service hole cover hooks from the body.
7.Remove the clip A and B.
|
8.Remove the grommet.
9.Pull the door lock knob cable and the inner handle cable from the service hole cover.
10.Remove the service hole cover. (See Service hole cover installation note.)
11.Disconnect the keyless antenna connector. (With advanced keyless entry system)

12.While pulling the front outer handle bracket pin in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, pull the front outer handle in the direction of arrow (2) and detach the front outer handle bracket pin from the front outer handle.

13.Remove the front outer handle in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure. (See Front outer handle installation note.)

14.Remove the service hole cover.
|
15.Loosen the screw.
|
16.While moving the lever in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, press the retainer in the direction of arrow (2) using a tape-wrapped screwdriver, and then secure the lever.

17.Remove the cap. (See Front outer handle installation note.)
|
18.While pressing the tabs of the clip in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, press it in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the connector tabs from the front outer handle bracket. (with advanced keyless entry system)

19.Loosen the screw securing the front outer handle bracket.

Note

• The screw cannot be removed because the front outer handle bracket has a stopper which prevents the screw from falling.
20.Pull the front outer handle bracket in the direction of arrow shown in the figure and detach the front outer handle bracket hooks from the body.

21.Lift the front outer handle bracket in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and pull out the rod from the rod holder. (See Front outer handle bracket installation note.)

22.Remove the front outer handle bracket.
23.Remove the handle seat from the body.
|
24.Install in the reverse order of removal.
Cap installation note
1.Tighten the screw while holding the cap, and return the retainer to its original position.

Front outer handle installation note

• While pressing the front outer handle bracket towards the body, move the lever in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, move the front outer handle in the direction of arrow (2), and then install the front outer handle.
Front outer handle bracket installation note

• Move the rod back and forth and verify that it is inserted into the rod holder hole.
Service hole cover installation note
-
• When installing the service hole cover, verify that the seal rubber is not wet.• If the seal rubber or a tab is damaged, replace the service hole cover.
